LYDIA NIGHT: BEFORE + AFTER

I’m so excited to share this much anticipated makeover we did for Lydia Night! Lydia is a singer/musician and part of the band The Regrettes! She recently moved into a playful mid-century home in LA, and immediately went to work putting her youthful stamp on the place! Lydia wanted to convert a spare bedroom to a walk-in master closet and dressing room, where she could hang out with friends or unwind after a long day. Especially when packing for a tour, it’s critical that she have a space where she can put together lots of looks and stay organized. We were so happy to be able to work with Lydia, and help bring her closet dreams to life!

Before, the space was a little tired, with dated carpet flooring and a small sliding wardrobe in one corner. Otherwise, it was a great blank slate to begin imagining the perfect dressing room. With a large window providing lots of natural light, and a great amount of space to work with, we decided to knock down the existing closet so the room would be an empty box in which we could work closet magic.

We wanted the closet to be neutral and modern, as a simple backdrop for Lydia’s colorful clothes and accessories! An avid thrifter, Lydia has such an eclectic and fun collection, and didn’t want a closet that was trying to compete. With simple white cabinetry, and a few black hardware elements, we were able to give just enough contrast to make the space feel fresh. We opted for some deco drawer pulls and a tufted fabric bench to incorporate Lydia’s love for vintage. On the walls, a playful geometric paper reflects the midcentury character of the house, and makes the closet feel right at home!

Finally, a large square island in the center of the room, with a decorative pendant above, help to ground the room and provide an easy place to lay out a suitcase and pack. When you’re living the busy life of a rockstar, it’s so important to have an inspiring place to pull together looks, and a calming space to come home to.
