LYDIA NIGHT: CLOSET INSPO

Lydia Night, musician and lead vocalist of The Regrettes, reached out because she wanted to create a closet fit for a rock star in her new LA home. Her style is vibrant, youthful, and fun with an elegant mid-century edge. The home is lacking in terms of storage space, and Lydia wanted to convert an extra bedroom to a dream walk-in dressing room, where she could store her stylish duds and start her day in a playfully inspiring space! While the design is still in the works, I want to go ahead and share a sneak peek at some of the progress and the fun pieces we’ve sourced for her space, so you too can shop the look and liven up your own closet with a few fashionable accessories!

BEFORE

When Lydia reached out, the space was in serious need of a little love! Needless to say, the carpet and colors were not her taste, and the bedroom featured a sliding wardrobe that we wanted to remove, in order to best utilize the entire room. It’s a sizable space, so we definitely wanted to make space for an island in the center of the room as part of the design!

INSPIRATION

For Lydia’s dressing room, we wanted to inject a little mid-century character, to reflect the style of the house and her edgy personal aesthetic! With playful touches of color and soft materials, we didn’t want to stray too far on the feminine side, and planned to incorporate black and brass accents to balance the overall look. Lydia likes the look of open cabinetry, and wants to see her clothes in the space. For this reason, we also wanted to draw inspiration from a few more curated closets we’ve done, where the clean lines of the closet are very minimal, and accented with a bolder choice of decorative hardware and lighting!

DESIGN

The design for the space consists of floating shoe shelves wrapping one corner of the room, a large full-length mirror, open hanging, and an oversized center island with black marble waterfall edges! The minimal and slightly masculine nature of the cabinetry and stone is balanced with a more feminine wall covering that injects a little color and personality to the room! We also incorporated a sculptural chandelier to play up the scale of the room, and introduce a mix of metals. Stay tuned for more updates and progress as the design comes to life over the next few weeks, and in the meantime, shop the materials and accessories we’re using in Lydia’s dressing room below, to recreate this luxuriously playful space in your own home!
