ROCK-AND-ROLL DRESSING ROOMS

When Aerosmith’s drummer, Joey Kramer, performs the band’s hit, “Dream On” we can’t be sure he’s thinking about his closet; but, we did recently design the closet of his rock and roll dreams!

As with any project we started with a mood board and sourcing inspiration. In this case, that included masculine materials like dark woods complemented by glam accents like a crystal chandelier and plush seating, similar to what you’d see in a hip hotel lobby, lavish lounge or Moncler boutique.

Joey and his wife Linda were so fun to work with. I always think about the client’s lifestyle and personality when creating a dressing for them, and they was no different. I wanted to be sure we injected their closets with a rocker edge to channel Joey’s “livin’ on the edge” persona, while still giving them stylish and sophisticated individual spaces to retreat. With their home being in Texas I knew we had an opportunity to embrace a “bigger” and “bolder” approach that would work well with the rest of the home.

To capture Joey’s aesthetic -- edgy, eccentric, moody -- we included an industrial satin bronze chandelier, lighted displays for all of his swanky shoes and studded boots, black cerused wood cabinetry, a custom purple (his favorite color) skull-print area rug, and suede accessory drawers for all of his “rockstar” accessories like rings, bracelets, and necklaces.

The dark masculine mood of Joey’s space is balanced with Linda’s flashy and glam sensibility. We infused her space with metallic gold finishes, a mirrored island, crystal-encrusted drawer pulls, full-height hanging cabinets with custom lowering rods (all the bells and whistles!), and locked suede jewelry drawers to hold her bling. The end result was a harmonic symphony of masculine meets feminine with a feast of fun accents. I think this project’s a chart-topper for sure!
