Pantone’s 2017 “Color of the Year,” Greenery is a vivacious and calming hue, and according to the Pantone Color Institute, “emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.”
Green is my absolute favorite color, so I’m thrilled that this zesty yellow-green shade is getting its time in the spotlight. It reminds me of home in Hawaii where lush mountains and green grass abound. Green was also my school color from 6th-12th grade, so it also evokes a bit of personal nostalgia.
As the “Muppets” saying goes, “it’s not easy being green,” but in the design world, the possibilities are endless. As nature’s neutral, Greenery is extremely complementary and lends itself to creating spaces that channel an indoor-outdoor transitional aesthetic. Whether an armoire, vase, hanger, or terrarium, there are many ways to seamlessly incorporate Greenery into your life in 2017.
