Closet Archetypes: If You Were a Closet, What Would You Be?
Closets, like people, come with personalities. Over the years, we’ve designed dressing rooms that are serene, bold, theatrical, discreet — and everything in between. And somewhere along the way, we started to realize: every closet has a character.
So today, we’re asking: If you were a closet… what would you be?
Here are just a few of our favorite closet archetypes (and yes, we’ve designed all of them):
The Minimalist
Likes: Symmetry, monochrome, breathing room
Dislikes: Clutter, open shelving, visible hardware
Their closet is quiet luxury: soft-close drawers, integrated lighting, and a single statement handbag on display like art.
The Maximalist
Likes: Pattern on pattern, color-coded everything
Dislikes: Empty space
Their closet is a kaleidoscope — lacquered cabinetry, wallpapered ceiling, rainbow hangers, and at least one vintage mannequin.
The Collector
Likes: Watches, wine, handbags, sneakers — and lots of them
Dislikes: “Just the basics”
Their closet is a vault-meets-gallery: glass display cases, custom drawers for every category, and biometric locks on the Hermes.
The Traveler
Likes: Kaftans, packing cubes, passport stamps
Dislikes: Staying in one place
Their closet is globally inspired — maybe a Moroccan tile rug underfoot or a carved wooden vanity. Bonus: built-in packing station with luggage storage.
The Entertainer
Likes: Champagne, skincare fridges, silk robes
Dislikes: Dressing in a hurry
Their closet doubles as a lounge — think island bar cart, mini fridge drawers, and a plush chair where guests can perch while they "get ready."
The Archivist
Likes: Label makers, museum-quality lighting, preservation
Dislikes: Anything not acid-free
Their closet is a climate-controlled temple: UV-filtering glass, archival boxes, and a spreadsheet that knows where every vintage Dior lives.
