MAISON et OBJET 2024

This year, we had the pleasure to take part in the renowned Paris Maison & Objet design fair, where designers and craftsman from all over the world showcase their products and forecast trends that will influence the global design scene.

NATURAL WOOD FINISHES

One of the most prevalent trends we’re seeing right now in closets, which was also very present at Maison, is that designers are embracing natural wood tones and stained finishes! All kinds of fine woods and exotic species are making their way into modern decor and interiors. We’re seeing burl wood furniture, carved wood artwork, white oak millwork, and more.

SUEDE

Suede adds such a subtle sense of luxury to a space, and there were some really stunning applications of it on display this year! For one, Pinetti leather showcased a line of valet racks and home accessories that would make for a perfect accessory in any closet. Wallpapers, suede upholsteries, and dining room place settings were a few more of our favorite ways we saw suede dressing up interior decor.

STATEMENT LIGHTING

Decorative lighting can transform a room, and in many cases, is the centerpiece. This year, exaggerated chandeliers, blown glass, and cut crystal were everywhere. Baccarat’s immersive art space was just one example of this! Exhibitors like Abhika designed show-stopping spaces around their glittery fixtures.

PLAYFUL ACCESSORIES AND HARDWARE

A little kitsch never hurt anyone! Decorative hardware and accessories took on a life of their own this year, with playful ceramics and colorful patterns injecting so much personality. Much in the way clothing can bring a closet to life, I can imagine some of these lively accessories completely transforming an otherwise neutral home.

LUCITE + ACRYLIC FURNITURE

Finally, maybe our favorite trend this year, custom lucite and acrylic furnishings were really the stars of the show! With everything from acrylic billiards tables and game sets to lucite exercise equipment and gold-accented stationary bikes on display, we walked away with so much inspiration to find fun ways to play with transparency in closets.
