MAEVE REILLY: SHOP THE STUDIO

Much like creating the perfect red-carpet look, styling a closet is a playful art, mixing and matching accessories to find a combination that works! Recently, we got to share the full makeover of the massive studio space we designed for stylist Maeve Reilly, as featuring in Interiors Magazine. So, I wanted to take a little time out to share some of the vignettes created throughout the space, and inspire you to take a few tips for your own closet! Styling your closet like any other room in the home is a critical step toward making this a room where you’ll want to spend time. Plus, with the right accessories, you can vastly improve the functionality of your space as well!

INDUSTRIAL HANGING / STAGING

As a busy professional stylist, Maeve needs quick and easy access to her rotating inventory of pieces. This meant finding a way to keep everything out in the open, and in a way that didn’t feel cluttered. We designed a system of industrial wall-mounted hanging racks to accommodate all kinds of clothing! This way, everything is at her fingertips, but using materials that fit the more industrial look of the loft space.

SEATING AREA

No studio (or closet) is complete without a little spot to hang out! We carved out a couple of areas for seating in Maeve’s new space. While we don’t all have the luxury of a 2-story space to get dressed at home, a cozy side chair can really soften up a space, and make for the perfect quite spot to start and end your day.

SHOE DISPLAY / FLOATING SHELVES

Whether you’re a minimalist or a collector, a shoe wall is a staple focal point in many closets. You don’t necessarily need to go for a full custom remodel to create a “wow” shoe moment. With some very simple shelving and a little finessing, the shoes will do most of the talking!

FULL LENGTH MIRROR

Maeve regularly hosts fittings in the studio with her clients, and needed a functional full-length mirror! I always recommend having one in a closet as well — this can go on the back of a door, free-standing on the floor, or mounted to the wall. Wherever you can find room, a mirror will add valuable visual space to the closet and definitely make getting ready a little easier!

JEWELRY BOXES

For costume jewelry, it’s nice to be able to see what you have at a glance to be able to finish off a look. We incorporated a few glass curio boxes for cuffs, clutches, and the like. I like to use these in the closet for all kinds of accessories — belts, sunglasses, and more! Not only do you know what you have, because you can see it, but it makes for some beautiful closet eye candy!
