FALLING FOR FALL

From fashion favorites to home decor, these fall trends are giving me chills.

It’s finally starting to feel like fall in LA and in addition to the sweaters I’m scooping up for the season, I’m loving a lot of the current trends that work with personal style and in home decor.  Fall trends are teeming with luxury -- from rich fabrics to saturated jewel tones to opulent hardware -- and I’m breaking down a few of my favorites wardrobe and interior styles for the season.

Cashmere

One of my favorite fall fabrics is a soft and supple cashmere because it’s as cozy as it is chic. This season, I’m excited to envelope my skin in this luxe Balenciaga cashmere scarf and, of course, endless oversized sweaters. And, for the home, this Quinn modern stripe cashmere throw is ultimate seasonal touch to stay warm.

Gold

Metallic accents continue to be pervasive in both fashion and design. Gold is especially timeless, whether a lurex thread woven through a party dress, hardware embellishment on accessories, or used as an accent in the home through a vase or a lamp. I’m loving the brushed gold hardware on Dior’s J’adior bag and, for the home, Tom Dixon’s ‘Gem’ collection.

Leather

I’m constantly looking for fresh ways to integrate leather into my wardrobe. These Saint Laurent over-the-knee boots are sure to give me a stylish swag this season. And, though it’s unconventional, leather can be a novel way to update a living space. Organizational items, desk accessories and place settings can deliver a dose of elegant edge. I’m a sucker for this Louis Vuitton tray and these Hermes cups!

Patterned Knits

With sweater weather fueling fall fashion, I’ve been thinking about how I can get my fill of patterned and embellished knits. For starters, Gucci sweaters are hot! Their chunky pullovers, boyfriend cardigans and elongating dusters are adorned with cute and kitschy patterns that add some whimsy to the wardrobe. For the home, adding thick throws and pretty knit pillows are a great way to integrate the trend. This plaid-patterned Missoni throw is the absolute prettiest accessory to Netflix and chill with through the cooler months.

Suede

Suede is a fall staple in both fashion and home decor, and there are plenty of new and noteworthy options this season. Chanel’s xx bag and Gucci’s Dionysus bag are two of the most covetable suede handbags to sport this season (and will last far beyond December!). And, for the home, I’m lusting over this CB2 woven camel suede chair, which offers a stylish space upgrade with a reasonable price tag.

Velvet

We’re seeing this luxurious and rich fabric everywhere right now. But, I’ll admit my favorite iteration this season is a colorful, tailored velvet pantsuit à la Cara Delevingne in this Mugler look. If you’re feeling bold, try this purple Pallas version with satin trim to make a statement at your holiday soiree. Bringing velvet into the home isn’t as tricky as you’d think. Perhaps the most eye-popping way is with a tufted velvet sofa. This elegant emerald one from Anthropologie is truly fit for royalty!
